What is a Hernia Mesh?

Hernia Mesh Implant Lawsuit

Hernia mesh lawsuits filed against manufacturers claim serious injuries as a result of mesh failure. Hernia mesh class action lawsuits seek to demonstrate that the devices caused injuries or complications so severe that people had to have additional surgeries. As of November 2019, there were 7,711 hernia mesh lawsuits pending against Ethicon, Atrium and Bard Davol.

Hernia mesh is a surgical implant often made of a synthetic plastic called polypropylene. It reinforces torn or damaged tissue around hernias and strengthens it as it heals. It is used in about 90 percent of hernia repair surgeries in the U.S.
